Books, Books and books....

barre_01.jpg

They can have been written by members of learned societies, from geographers to economists, by tireless novelists or talented journalists, by locals or foreigners.

In your favourite bookshop, you might find them either in the "essays" "gastronomy", "history", "travels" ,"drinks" or "novel" section...

They are all written by Cognac lovers..

But I will introduce you too to other universes: perfumes, spices...

Kyle Jarrard, American journalist and contributor to the International Herald Tribune International,is litterally in love with Cognac. Is it because he married a "charentaise"?
His book is the first complete saga of Cognac, a fantastic travel through time and Cognac space. From the shores of the jurassic and cretaceous seas where microscopic algaes were silently dying, slowly creating day by day the huge layers of chalk that would be covered one day by our vines, to the offices of the 21st century masters of Cognac. A very precise book, very well documented. But Keith Jarrard is one of these rare writers who hide a remarkable scholarship behind a really pleasant and vivid style. Once you have read this book, you know nearly everything about the history of the region: weddings and betrayals, wars and starvations, blocades and conquests...with Jarrard's talent, the history of Cognac becomes a suspense story.
Do not hesitate, and read it without any moderation
