The first Cognac tasting school |

Cognacs and their region are fascinating, but quite difficult to understand, and information about tasting is not easy to get...
When I arrived in Cognac, I was managing a wine tasting school in Bordeaux: I was supposed to be used to great wines.
But what awaited me in Cognac turned out to be amazing:
-
The history of the area could be the source of not one
but several Hollywood productions
-
A unique production process, hardly unchanged during the last 300
years. A matter of artisanship and art more than of industry
-
And
over all, a new world of sensations, a brand new universe of smells and
flavours, floating somewhere in the space, between wines and perfumes.
But definitely something was missing here.
There are dozens of Wine nosing and tasting schools in France - every wine producing area has its "local wines" tasting schools. You can find schools dedicated to Whiskies all around the world....but nothing for Cognacs.
In Cognac, there were professional courses for distillers, or for Cognac houses executives and their distributors.
For the tourists, interesting visits of the different cognac houses.
But nothing for the "amateur", the wine or spirit lover eager to get more knowledge about all the world of cognac. I met people really frustrated.
That could not last any longer...
This why I decided to give lectures and organize tastings about Cognacs, to share my love of these incredible spirits, and introduce the wine and spirit lovers to our region...and I created the "Ecole des Cognacs".
